For many decades now, ice cream has been a favorite treat that comes in many varieties. Along with the development of new flavors and better quality, ice cream truck businesses grew along. If you’ve been thinking of having your own ice cream truck business, you’re probably just imagining the mouthwatering delights you’ll soon be selling. But did you ever think what this type of truck actually looks like on the inside or what makes it unique?

This truck has its own compressor and can be used both as a freezer and a vehicle. It can be bought from manufacturers or they can be rented. Finding your truck will be the first step you can make if you’re planning to sell ice cream. And consider yourself lucky because competition is currently minimal with the relatively few people running this type of business today.

Selling these sweet delights through trucks can be a very good prospect for anyone who wants extra income at the end of the day. Its advantage is its low start-up and maintenance cost. This means if things don’t go so well during the first few months, you can always give yourself more time to build on your sales. After all, you will always have a market as long as you know where to find it.

One thing you can do to increase your likelihood of success in this business is to plan everything. Determine which areas will have a good number of children. After all, they are your major market. Know your route and save on fuel costs simply by using the nearest route from one point to another. Remember that while this type of business will involve mostly kids, it is no way a kid’s business. You still do need to consider cost versus profit. This way, you will be able to know what’s going on and you will determine what actions or steps you need to take in order to increase your earnings. As always. a good business plan saves the day.

There are some real advantages to going with the electric ice cream maker. The churning action is continuous and consistent while it is being done automatically by the machine. Because of this the ice cream is made more quickly and efficiently with much less tedium. The machine times the churning and knows when to stop because it can gauge when the ice cream has set up in the interior chamber. With this kind of efficiency you can do much more experimentation of different ingredients and recipes. Everyone in your family can dream up a recipe and try it out. You can whip up several batches of different flavored ice cream very quickly. That way you can satisfy the cravings of everyone in your family or all the guests at your party or barbecue.

Just because you choose an electric ice cream maker that automates the churning doesn’t mean you have to give up the atmosphere and family fun of making your own ice cream. The electric model just takes the dreaded constant churning out of the equation; no body really looked forward to that part anyway. You can spend more time forming your own recipes and ingredients and of course more time sampling your delicious creations. So by combining the best new technology with the old fashioned family fun of making homemade ice cream, you get the best of both worlds.

There are many ice cream types these days. One of them is the Paddle Pop. Paddle Pops have been around for a long time – since 1953. They were created by a man named Ronald Street. So, next time you eat a Paddle Pop, thank Ronald Street. Paddle Pops were popular in Australia for several decades. That popularity finally began to grow in 2000, when Paddle Pops began to reach places as far off as China, the British Isles, Malaysia and India. Based on their extraordinary taste, it’s most likely only a matter of time before Paddle Pops became well known all over the world. It’s estimated that 97 million people eat at least one Paddle Pop in a year. There are currently over 100 flavours.

Another one of the more popular kids desserts are Icy Poles. Icy Poles were actually discovered by accident. In 1905, an 11-year-old boy in San Francisco, California left soda water powder and water outside. There was a stick in its middle. Overnight, the temperature reached below freezing and froze the soda water powder. When he came outside the next morning, he discovered this new concoction and ran it under hot water. Using the stick as a handle, he removed the soda water and began to eat it. From then on, Icy Poles were born. Icy Pops are eaten all over the world and go by different names based on the country. Here’s a fun side note: in 1997, the largest Icy Pole ever was created and it was 21 feet high.

We can’t have an article about ice cream types without mentioning Cornetto or Drumsticks. For many years, people were trying to figure out how to eat frozen ice cream cones. The problem was that they kept melting. Finally, they figured out to use oil, sugar and chocolate to insulate the ice cream. Cornetto and Drumstick comes in many flavours, including strawberry, mint chocolate, nut, lemon, and whippy.

If these options don’t sound interesting enough to you, you can also try other popular ice cream snacks, such as an Ice Cream Sandwich, a Chipwich Sandwich, or a Sundae Cone. While they all have their benefits, it’s always most fun to mix it up and try them all.

There are many different types of ice machines. You can choose from different shapes with your choice of shaved, cubed, nugget or half ice. It is really just a matter of personal preference for your business. The most popular choices are nuggets and cubed. You usually find this sort of shape offered by hotel ice machines or sold in bags at supermarket chains.

The size of your machine needs to be taken into consideration. Also you have to consider the size capacity and the demand of ice from your customers. If you sell great quantities of ice on a daily basis you’d require a machine that can deliver that capacity. Otherwise you’ll have dissatisfied customers. Since they come in many different sizes you will not encounter much difficulty finding the right size for your needs. Your ice machine should already be equipped with the proper size container. The container collects falling ice and is an easy way to scoop the proper amount of ice needed.

Doing your research will allow you to make the best choice for your business from among the many suppliers. You can conduct your search using online catalogs which will save you time and money. Allowing you time at your leisure to conduct comparison shopping. Often when shopping on site you are pressed for time and tend to make hasty decisions. Conducting a search at your leisure is an easy way to choose your options. Any questions can be handled by a quick phone call to a company representative. They will be more than happy to assist you in your purchase. Almost any business can use an ice maker.

There are wide arrays of companies that do. Some of them are motels, fast food restaurants and hotels. In larger hotel establishments you will find multiple machines on ever floor. Most supermarkets from large chains to mom and pop operations have this service available. The largest industry that uses ice machines are bars and restaurants. The demand for ice in these establishments is staggering and certainly relying on ice cubes from an old fashioned plastic container would not do.

Ice cream is a preferred dessert for all. There is a simple way of making chocolate ice cream if you want the tasty treat in 5 minutes. Buying the most overpriced equipment is not needed when you choose this method. The method of choice is through a bag. Home made icecream in a bag is fun that even children can help. If you want to know how to ice cream do this then the following ways are:

1. The components to make home made ice cream are: 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1/2 cup of milk, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla, 6 teaspoons of rock salt, 1 pint sized Ziploc bag, 1 gallon size garbage bag and ice cubes. With these ingredients, you can get a sweet taste of vanilla ice cream. Once you have collected all these ingredients, you are ready to start making the ice cream.

2. Fill the garbage bag half full of ice, and then add the rock salt. After the ice and rock salt, you need to seal the bag. Mix the milk, vanilla, and sugar into the Ziploc bag, and seal it up. Put the small Ziploc bag inside the large garbage bad and seal it again ever so carefully.

3. After you have the mixtures in the bag and the bags joined in the one big garbage bag, shake it until the mixture is the consistency you want. This takes about 5 minutes of shaking. Wipe off the top of the small bag and open it cautiously. Your mixture should have the consistency that will rival store bought ice cream.

Once you have practiced a few times, you can have really good tasting aroma ice cream. Home made ice cream has a freezer life of one month. After a month it looses its flavor and is not good for you to eat. Eating home made ice cream is healthier for you than buying the prepackaged tubs of ice cream from your local market.

The good thing about buying a franchise is that you do not need to do a lot of marketing efforts, especially if it is a really popular company, because you will be allowed to use the brand of a business. This includes name, logo, and so on. But if you will start from scratch, you have to think of a catchy name, a great logo, and a nice slogan so that people will remember your ice cream.

So if you decide to buy and open a franchise, here are some tips that you should know.

The first thing is to determine your goal and objective in opening a franchise. Do you think there are many people who will buy ice cream in the location where you are planning to put up your business? Are you interested in ice cream? These questions will guide you to do the right thing.

There are several companies or brands that you might want to buy franchise from. You can buy franchise from really popular ice cream brands or from your local shops. You have to prove to them that you are capable and very much interested to run their franchise by laying out a well-thought out business plan.

These are just some of the most basic tips. You still need to do a lot of things to be able to open a franchise successfully.

Shave ice or snow cones? Making the decision can be very difficult, as both of these products target the same clientele – and they are dually appealing, especially during the warmer seasons. In order to make the best decision for your concession stand, you must evaluate the differences between both of these products.

A snow cone is a timeless ice-cold treat that has been around for decades. A vintage snow cone cart brings one back to a different era. Each of us has a fond memory of enjoying a “Sky Blue” or “Rainbow” flavored snow cone, while watching a local baseball game or while riding all of the rides at the State Fair.

Shave ice is a newer trend that has recently become popular in the continental United States within the last ten years, although it has been extremely popular in Hawaii for decades. Since the ice must be shaved, this type of concession stand requires more equipment then a simple snow cone cart. However, shave ice is a delicious, appealing summertime treat – whose sales volume may warrant a larger space for the equipment.

There are several factors to consider when choosing between a snow cone cart or a shave ice stand. One of the most important factors to consider is pricing. A snow cone cart may be less expensive, but a shave ice concession stand may be able to handle a higher amount of volume.

The second factor to consider is staffing. A snow cone stand or cart requires only one person to efficiently and effectively run it. On the other hand, a shave ice stand requires two people – one person to shave the ice and another person to handle all of the customers. Your choice ultimately reflects the volume at your event and staffing abilities.

A third factor to consider is the amount of supplies and equipment that is needed. A snow cone concession stand requires less room and equipment to run. A shave ice stand requires more room, more staff, and more equipment. However, both of these types of concession stands quickly pay for themselves because of their popularity.

When choosing between a shave ice machine or a snow cone machine, look into your budget and your needs. Once you do this, the answer should be quite clear. Whichever option you choose, you can rest assured that your snow cone or shave ice stand will appeal to a large range of crowds. Both of these types of concession stands score a home run, especially during the warmer seasons.

Ice cream (originally iced cream) is a frozen dessert made from dairy products such as cream (or substituted ingredients), combined with flavourings and sweeteners such as sugar. This mixture is cooled while stirring to prevent large ice crystals from forming. Although the term “ice cream” is sometimes used to mean frozen desserts and snacks in general, it is usually reserved for frozen desserts and snacks made with a high percentage of milk fat. Frozen custard, ice milk, sorbet and other similar products are often also called ice cream.

Composition
Modern industrially-produced ice cream is made from a mixture of ingredients:

0-16% milk fat
9-12% milk solids-not-fat: this component, also known as the serum solids, contains the proteins (caseins and whey proteins) and carbohydrates (lactose) found in milk
12-16% sweeteners: usually a combination of sucrose and/or glucose-based corn syrup sweeteners
0.2-0.5% stabilizers and emulsifiers e.g., agar or carrageenan extracted from seaweed
5%-64% water which comes from milk solids or other ingredients
These ingredients make up the ice cream, but only a portion of the final volume, the remainder being air incorporated during the whipping process. Generally, the less expensive the ice-cream, the lower the quality of the ingredients (for example, replacing vanilla bean with artificial vanillin), and the more air is incorporated, sometimes as much as 50% of the total volume. Artisan-produced ice creams, such as Berthillon’s, often contain very little air, although some is necessary to produce the characteristic creamy texture of the product. Generally speaking, the finest ice creams have less than 3% air, but more than 15%. Since ice cream is sold by volume, it’s economically advantageous for producers to reduce the density of the product in order to cut costs (One of Margaret Thatcher’s first jobs was in an ice cream company laboratory, where she was finding ways of increasing the air-content of ice cream). The use of stabilizers rather than actual cream and the incorporation of air also decreases the fat and caloric content of less expensive ice creams, making them more appealing to those on diets.

Ice-creams come in a wide variety of flavours, often with additives such as chocolate flakes or chips, nuts, fruit, and small candies/sweets. Some of the most popular ice cream flavours in supermarkets are vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and Neapolitan (a combination of the three). Many people also like ice cream sundaes, which often have ice cream, hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream, cherries and other toppings of their choice.

Production

Before the development of modern refrigeration ice cream was a luxury item reserved for special occasions.

The making of ice cream was originally a laborious process. The temperature was reduced by placing the ice cream mixture into a container that was immersed in a mixture of crushed ice and salt. The dissolving of salt in water is endothermic and the salt allows liquid water to be below the freezing point of pure water, allowing the immersed container with cream to make better contact with the melted water/ice mixture.

Ice was cut commercially from lakes and ponds during the winter and stored in large heaps in holes in the ground or in wood-frame ice houses, insulated by straw. Ice cream was made by hand in a large bowl surrounded by packed ice and salt. The hand-cranked churn, which still used ice and salt for cooling, was invented by an American named Nancy Johnson in 1846, making production simpler. The world’s first commercial ice-cream factory was opened in Baltimore, Maryland in 1851, by Jacob Fussell, a dairy farmer. An unstable demand for his milk led him to mass produce ice cream. This allowed the previously expensive concoction to be offered at prices everyone could afford. Fussell opened ice cream parlors as far west as Texas. Many were still around well into the 20th century. He sold his business to Borden.

The development of industrial refrigeration by German engineer Carl von Linde during the 1870s obviated the cutting and storing of natural ice and then the continuous-process freezer was perfected in 1926, allowing commercial mass production of ice cream and the birth of the modern ice-cream industry.

The most common method for producing ice-cream at home is to use an ice-cream machine, generally an electrical device that churns the ice cream while refrigerated inside a household freezer or using ice and salt for cooling.

Commercial delivery

Thanks to mass production, ice cream is widely available in most parts of the world. Ice cream can be purchased in large tubs and squrounds from supermarkets/grocery stores, in smaller quantities from ice cream shops, convenience stores, and milk bars, and in individual serves from small carts or vans at public events and places. Some ice-cream distributors who sell ice-cream products door-to-door from travelling refrigerated vans or carts, often equipped with speakers playing a children’s music tune.
